Today was a day full of talking about community & fellowship. I visited another church today & the sermon was about community. Afterward I talked to a friend, & fellowship was a big part of our conversation. It is quite a "hot topic" in churches today--but is it really enacted well at YOUR church or in YOUR community?
We need to remember that while we all have our own personalities, our own talents, & our own michegases, we are really not that different from each other in so many ways. Christians and non-Christians alike have similar needs, desires, & experiences. It's easy for us to distance ourselves from others when we forget this.
What would the Israelites have done without each other as they wandered the desert forty years? How did David & Jonathan's friendship make a difference in his rule as king? Would Esther have had the courage to save our people without the support of her family & friends? What would Paul's ministry have looked like without Peter, Luke, Silas, Timothy, Barnabas, Aquila, Priscilla, & Phoebe? What would YOUR life be like without your family & friends?
Acts 2:42-27
